Private Driving Lesson (45 min)

Private lessons are 45 minutes in length. Students will practice the rules of driving as outlined in the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Driver’s Manual.

Monday through Sunday, students can select one of our 15 pick up locations.

Cancellation Policy - Students are required to contact our office at least 24 hours in advance of a lesson cancellation. If students cancel more than 1 lesson without the required notice they will lose that lesson.

STICK SHIFT LESSONS are available using your own vehicle. Call us to get details.

Highway /Expressway Lesson

The highway/expressway lesson is 60 minutes. Students will practice on and off ramps, lane change and passing other vehicles.

Students must have a valid driver’s license or the recommendation of their Branch’s driving instructor in order to take a highway lesson.

NY Pre-Licensing Course (5hr)

We are a DMV approved NY Pre Licensing Class (5 hour) provider.
We offer both online distance learning (zoom) classes as well as in person classes.
If you do not receive your ZOOM link 24 hours prior to class - call our office !!!

Students must have either a current NY Photo Learner Permit or a valid interim permit with a NYS government issued ID card
(such as a Non-Driver ID card, Expired NY Photo Permit, and/or Expired NY p hoto License) to participate in the class.
   You CANNOT take the class with a paper (interim) permit.

We will reschedule one missed class if you notify us 48 hours in advance, after that you will be required to repay for the class.

ZOOM Class Requirements:

When you pay for the class, you will be required to upload your photo learner permit.
Once we verify your photo permit, we will email you the Zoom class link, meeting ID and passcode - please contact us if you do no receive the link 48 hours after purchase.
Technology Requirements:
- Computer or Smartphone (iOS and Android devices) with internet access to Zoom.com
- You do not need to have a Zoom account to attend a Zoom meeting. You will be prompted to download the software or phone app, once you have clicked on the link that we provide.
- Web cam and audio capability for class participation - you must have a plain background that is not distracting or offensive to other participating students.

Participation Requirements:
- Students must have their webcam enabled the entire class
- Attendance will be taken throughout the class
- Students are expected to participate during class (no exam is required)
Certification:
- Upon course completion, the instructor-signed certificate will be mailed to the address on the client's permit with instructions for the student to sign it before scheduling a DMV road test appointment. Certificates will be mailed within 2 business days of the class date. If certificates are returned for incorrect address there will be a $10 replacement fee.
Reschedule:
- We will reschedule one missed class if you notify us 48 hours in advance, after that you will be required to repay for the class.

Replacement 5 Hour Certificate

Your certificate for the New York Pre-Licensing Class (5 hour class) is valid for one year. You can purchase a replacement certificate online. The certificate will be mailed to the address on your permit unless otherwise specified. You also have the option to pick up the certificate at the Branch's Driving School main office at: 6311 Fly Road, Suite 108, East Syarcuse 13057 Monday - Friday between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm.

Our instructors are certified through the Empire Safety Council for the Point and Insurance Reduction Program (Defensive Driving). You can save up to 10% on your auto insurance and reduce up to 4 points on your driving record after completion of the class. This class is a total of 6 hours including breaks.

We require all students to take a private driving lesson or mini lesson prior to rental of our vehicles. Vehicles are rented for road tests when available, please contact our office prior to purchasing a vehicle rental to ensure we have a car available for you ! Students must already know how to complete the required maneavers on the road test. The pre-exam lesson is NOT for beginner drivers.
The cost is $85.00 for pick up at one of our convenient pick up locations.

Driver Evaluation

This service includes an initial consultation with the fleet manager, hiring manager or supervisor of the driver to be evaluated. A driving plan is established and scheduled with the employee. We can conduct the evaluation in your company vehicle or a Branch’s vehicle. Evaluation includes pre-driving inspection, rules of road, signs and signals, speed control, following distance, parking and highway driving. After the evaluation, your company will receive a report of the driver skills and a suggested remediation plan if necessary.

Parallel Parking

Parallel parking takes skill and is part of every road test.

How to Park
Many motorists consider parallel parking the most difficult part of driving. But practice will teach you how to back up correctly and to judge distances and angles.
Some vehicles have additional safety equipment (such as back up cameras and range-detecting sensors) to help the driver back up safely. Some vehicles can even park themselves (in certain conditions). Although these can be useful features, you need to be alert and check the area behind your vehicle before you back up. YOU – as the driver – are ultimately responsible for the safe operation of your vehicle and CANNOT use sensors on the road test.

Prior To Lesson

Upon purchase of the Parallel Parking Clinic, students will receive an email detailing the process of a parallel park. We ask that students be familiar with the process prior to their lesson.

Our Parallel Parking Clinic is a private 15-minute session - PLEASE BE ON TIME. If you are late, we may not be able to accomodate your session. This clinic is for experienced permit holders only. Students will learn and practice several parallel parks in the 15-minute session.
